Illustration done for Skeptic Magazine, to accompany an article about the life of Martin Gardner, a critical thinker, science writer and advocate of the scientific method. The glasses are the focus due to his characteristic thick lenses that magnified his eyes and dominated his face when they were on.

This is an image of Antony Flew, done for Skeptic Magazine, for an article about his life. As a brief overview, Flew was a British Philosopher and outspoken Atheist… he was famous for books and debates on the subject of God. Just before his death however, Flew co-authored a book called “There is a God: How the World’s Most Notorious Atheist Changed His Mind” with Roy Abraham Varghese. The article is a fascinating exploration of his life, and the circumstances surrounding the writing of the book.

A commission for a wedding, presented to the couple who are pictured – a diver and a mountaineer, who wanted to be shown meeting in the place between the activities they both love. This was a beautiful piece to work on!

The second part of a duo of commissions, and a companion image to this public concert scene. The character who appears as a projection in the concert scene is here in her bedroom, watching the concert itself via a V.R. uplink. Her friend from the concert, and the lead singer are being holographicly projected into her room. These pieces were commissioned to be part of the Runaway Girl Army universe.

The first part of a duo of commissions, and a companion image to this private concert scene. I was asked to create this concert scene, which focuses on the band, and two other main characters who are in the crowd. The setting is slightly in the future, hence the holographic effects going on. Most of it was done without specific visual reference, but a lot of text description. A number of crowd members are cosplaying Shiina Ringo outfits, and the band is also covering a Shiina Ringo song. These pieces were commissioned to be part of the Runaway Girl Army universe.

One of a series of illustrations produced for a series called Danica Starborn’s Secrets of the Universe which I wrote for The Phoenix Comic. The series follows the protagonist from my earlier story, Starborn, as she teaches young astronauts about the universe. This one focusses on the birth of a new star. Starborn is available in the shop as part of my all-ages book, Small Tales and Fairy Fails, and you can buy this image as a print!

One of a series of illustrations produced for a series called Danica Starborn’s Secrets of the Universe which I wrote for The Phoenix Comic. The series follows the protagonist from my earlier story, Starborn, as she teaches young astronauts about the universe. This one focusses on a hypothetical Alien Planet that humans might make contact with. Starborn is available in the shop as part of my all-ages book, Small Tales and Fairy Fails.
