Paul Duffield is a comic book creator, illustrator and animator working in Oxford, UK. His regular work includes interiors and covers for comics, book covers, storyboarding, character design and editorial illustration. His skills extend to 3D modelling, video editing & compositing, graphic design and writing.
Paul has worked for a diverse range of clients including The BBC, The UK Film & TV Production Company plc, Dark Horse Comics, SelfMadeHero, Avatar Press, Barrington Stoke, and The SETI Institute.
His major works in comics include Freakangels, The Tempest, several one-shots for The Phoenix, and his creator owned project The Firelight Isle.
Paul also hosts signings, workshops and seminars for Universities, Libraries, Book Shops and Schools, including Roehampton University, Foyles Bookshop, Blackwells Bookshop, Orbital Comics, The Daiwa Anglo-Japanese Foundation, The Cartoon Museum and The Russell-Cotes Museum.
awards/qualifications
- Favourite Web-Based Comic in The Eagle Awards 2010, for Freakangels.
- Overall Winner in the 2006 International Manga and Anime Festival (IMAF), for 'Rolighed', a three minute animated short.
- Grand Prize in Tokyopop's first UK Rising Stars of Manga competition, for 'Falling Star', an 18 page short comic.
- BA (Hons) in Illustration and Animation from Kingston University.
